People HR Mobile App: Common Problems and How to Fix Them

Why is the People HR application not working?

Unless we have identified downtime, which you can check here, the issue could be with your phone. The good news is that most application issues can be fixed in just a few minutes. If you have any problems, try these quick fixes:  

1. Close and reopen the app

How to close an app on an iPhone

  • From the home screen, swipe up from the bottom of the screen and pause in the middle of the screen.
  • Swipe right or left to find the app that you want to close.
  • Swipe up on the app's preview to close it.

How to close an app on an Android

  • Swipe up from the bottom of the screen and hold until the recent apps menu pops up.
  • Swipe up to close individual apps or tap the close all button to close all background apps. 

2. Update the People HR application to the latest version 

How to update an Android application

  • Open Google Play Store.
  • At the top right, tap the profile icon.
  • Tap manage apps and device. Applications with an update available are labelled 'Update available'.
  • Tap Update.

How to update an iPhone application

  • Open the App Store.
  • Tap your profile icon at the top of the screen.
  • Scroll to see pending updates and release notes. Tap Update next to an app to only update that app or tap Update All.

3. Try to turn off the application

  • On an iPhone double click home button/swipe up from the bottom, swipe up on the app's preview to close it.
  • On an Android, drag the app off the screen. When the app disappears, it will close.

4. You can also try and delete and then reinstall the application

  • On an iPhone press and hold down any icon until all the icons begin to jiggle, tap the little x in the upper-left corner of the app. 
  • On an Android, head to settings and tap Apps & notifications. Tap the app and tap uninstall.

5. Restart your phone using the power button

Why is the People HR App slow?

A temporary loading issue can sometimes cause slowness or lagging in the People HR app.

It might also be down to a lack of Wi-Fi or data on the phone.  

Sometimes slowness occurs because we work on new app developments and features which impact loading speed, but these updates are made outside of core working hours whenever possible.  

  1. Firstly, check your internet connection whether that be through mobile data or Wi-Fi connection. Disconnect and reconnect to your internet connection.

  4. Finally, if there are no available updates, please delete and reinstall the application (see the above steps in ‘Why is the People HR app not working’ for guidance

Why will the People HR app not open?

  1. If the People HR app stops responding or won't open, please close and reopen the app. If this isn’t possible, you can force the app to close.
  2. There may also be a software update on your phone that needs to take place, or an automatic update is taking place that is preventing apps from opening. Often the apps will appear greyed out or with a ‘loading’ icon on them. This should take a few minutes, depending on your Wi-Fi and data connection. Check back in a few minutes.
  3. Finally, please delete and reinstall the application (see the above steps in ‘Why is the People HR app not working’ for guidance).

What are the issues with HR mobile apps?

  • With all mobile applications, you may experience difficulties such unresponsiveness from time to time.  
  • All HR mobile apps are made differently, but they can have a high volume of users and many updates.  
  • If not managed correctly, this can cause user disruption. 
  • There can also be issues with updates to user phones. One final issue can be around an error in the user’s login details.

Here are our top tips to fix almost any problem with any HR mobile app!

  1. We recommend if possible, saving the login details on your phone’s secure password storage facility.
  2. Check your internet connection, and please ensure you have a secure connection to allow the application to be functional.
  3. If you are still facing further difficulties after doing this, please check that you are running the most up-to-date version of the app. This can be done by accessing The App Store/Google Play) to view the current version you are running and checking if there are any available updates you need to make.
  4. Finally, if there are no available updates please delete and reinstall the application.
